My Dear Friends in Christ,

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” These words from the prophet Isaiah proclaim the coming of the Christ child and the light He would bring to the world. Each Christmas season, we are reminded of the journey of the Holy Family toward Bethlehem and this “great light,” the promise of joy, and the incarnation of hope in the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As people of faith, we are called to ensure the light of Christ continues to shine through our words, through our actions, and through the love we show for one another. We are truly blessed here in Greater Boston to have many ministries that work tirelessly to bring Christ’s light and love to many, especially those who, like the Holy Family, face great uncertainty on their journeys. If you are in a position to do so, I ask that you consider a gift to the annual Christmas Campaign in support of these ministries and the light that is brought to so many through their work. Every gift makes a difference as we work together to further Christ’s mission.

This year, we have created a special Christmas book, “Christmas: A Journey of Hope” for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Click the image to read.

I invite you to take this virtual journey that offers us the opportunity to experience this blessed season together, reflecting on history, tradition, and our faith.

Asking God’s abundant blessings on you and your loved ones this Christmas, I am,

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Cardinal Seán O’Malley, O.F.M., Cap.
Archbishop of Boston
